George Gilbert Scott Finlay pleaded guilty

The court heard how two police officers, by chance, became aware of three men smoking heroin in a kitchen of a bedsit accommodation at Ladies Drive, in Lerwick, on 24 July last year.
George Gilbert Scott Finlay pleaded guilty to the charge when appearing before Sheriff Graeme Napier.
After calling for assistance from headquarters they forced entry into the flat, found 14 tin foil wraps of heroin with a street value of around £600, confiscated £700 in cash and arrested all three men.The court heart yesterday that 35 year old Finlay had traveled with the heroin from Aberdeen on the request of one of the men in the flat who wanted a "last blast" before going on a drugs rehab.Finlay, of 1 Bervie Brow, Altens, Aberdeen, admitted supplying heroin but insisted that no money had changed hands. It was described as a social supply. Sheriff Graeme Napier told Finlay that there was no point in asking for reports given his previous convictions involving drugs. He sentenced him to two years in jail and then reduced the length of imprisonment to 102 weeks to take into account the time Finlay had previously spent in custody.
